Hopatcong amongst the 10 most affordable places to live in New Jersey – number 1 in Sussex County
Mayor Michael Francis was pleased that the Borough of Hopatcong was acknowledged amongst the 10 most affordable places to live in New Jersey. “This is a direct result of implanting and adhering to the core conservative values of small government”, said Mayor Francis.
The financial technology SmartAsset released a study analyzing the most affordable places to live in New Jersey. The eighth annual study weighed several factors, including taxes, homeowners’ insurance, and home costs relative to the local median income.
The logic: the less income you spend on owning a home, the more affordable it is. New Jersey’s top 10 touches eight different counties. Hopatcong is #1 in Sussex County, and #8 in New Jersey.
“Prudent fiscal policy, small government core values, regenerating Fund Balance, cost-avoidance and cost-reduction in the provision of public services, and revenue from grants and shared services,” are attributable to this Administration,” noted Mayor Francis.
“The Borough of Hopatcong has had essentially a zero-tax increase for Borough services for five straight years,” concluded Mayor Francis.
